Waltzing with bears
4th-6th August 2006

By Wayne Richmond
Posted Monday, July 10, 2006

'Waltzing with bears', derived from the famous Dr Seuss books, is the opening song of Loosely Woven's second concert for 2006. As usual, the program will include a wide variety of material including more original songs by Ian Hamilton and Kevin Murray, a couple of tune sets, a short excerpt from The Mikado and, of course, more silliness!

Instruments will include harp, fiddles, recorders, concertinas, accordion, keyboard and percussion. See the Loosely Woven web site for details of the program.

All Loosely Woven concerts are performed acoustically - no PA!

Saturday 5th August is the birthday of former Loosely Woven member Graeme Mawer who died of cancer in 2000. Graeme was not only a brilliant guitarist and sculptor but also a great friend and we miss him a great deal.

There will be four public performances:

St Andrews Uniting Church, South Turramurra
7pm, Friday 4th August 2006
Chisholm & Vernon Streets,
South Turramurra

New Theatre, Newtown
1pm, Saturday 5th August 2006
542 King Street (midway between Newtown & St Peters stations)

St Davids Uniting Church, DY
7pm, Sunday 5th August 2006
(next to the police station)

Avalon Baptist Peace Church
7pm, Sunday 6th August 2006
2 George Street, Avalon
(for Amnesty International)

Attendance at the New Theatre will cost $10 (all proceeds towards the New Theatre Building Fund). All of the other venues will be free although donations will be invited.

The Avalon performance on Sun 6th will be recorded and videod and made into a DVD.
