Sutherland Shire Bush Dance Group is an Australian Folk dance club which meets each Wednesday night from February to mid December between 7.30pm and 10pm at

Gymea Anglican Church Hall
131 Gymea Bay Road, Gymea

for bush dancing, a yarn and a cuppa. All the dances are taught, walked through and called.

Entry: $6/person. Singles, partners and groups are welcome.

Enquiries: Mike 9520 2859, Leila 9545 1576 or our web site.

The Group commenced in October, 1985, affiliated with the Folk Federation of NSW and the Bush Music Club, to assist in promoting an interest in Australian heritage through bush dancing. The group still conducts its weekly bush dance workshop in the Sutherland Shire. Although not having its own bush band, the Group manages quite well with tapes and cd’s and has an experienced, well known caller in Mike Waters.

During the 1980s and 1990s, the Group conducted a programme of over 100 monthly bush dances at Sutherland. These involved a variety of musicians, bush bands and callers and were along the style of a family bush dance. Between 1988 and 2002 members performed numerous public demonstrations of Australian bush dancing at various festivals/venues.
