This month we are fortunate enough to have the supremely talented Fred Smith come for our concert night. He is a very interesting man who writes song with intelligence and humour. He has lived in many trouble spots in the world recently returning from Afghanistan and has a recent album released with songs about his experiences there. He will be presenting overheads on the night to better explain the situation and the countryside there which should be an eye opener. Please try not to miss this night Fred is coming all the way from Canberra just to perform for us so it would be dreadful if we got a poor audience. Also you won't want to miss it mainly because it is shaping up to be one of our best nights ever.

Fred Smith is the most interesting folk musician working in Australia. In tune with the times and prepared to reach beyond predictable folk formats, he is endlessly innovative and creative. He is also very funnyā€¯. (Sydney Morning Herald, December 2009). Fred has recently returned from 18 months in southern Afghanistan with a remarkable collection of songs for his forthcoming album Dust of Uruzgan.
