The Shack - August 2006
7.30pm, Saturday 5th August 2006

By Kathleen Swadling
Posted Wednesday, August 2, 2006

The Tramshed
1395a Pittwater Road
Narrabeen

(In between the Ambulance Station and Car Park of Narrabeen Shopping Centre)

Guest artists this month include:

  • Jeff Stanley - An amazingly wild guitarist and not one to be missed. β€œHe’s the best guitarist I have ever heard,” were the words spoken on national radio about Jeff, a musician, who in one song can vary between the diverse rhythms of funky reggae, fast ska, rap, and bee bop. Jeff is an American singer/songwriter living in Sydney but was raised in East Africa which exposed him to eclectic music from an early age. His diversity soon landed him several first place awards in Songwriters Showcases.
  • Mothers of Intention - A spirited five piece band with vocals, guitars, fiddle, mandolin, recorder, bodhrans and doumbek whose extensive repertoire includes a vibrant mix of Celtic, Folk, Original and Folk inspired covers. From Irish standards, soulful ballads sung in three part harmony to fast jigs and reels and slow airs.
Coffee and tea is available but BYO refreshments and nibblies.

The Shack is held on the first Saturday of every month. There's a cover charge of $15 (or $10 for members, students and pensioners) to cover costs. The Shack is a non profit organisation – all proceeds go toward the promotion and presentation of original, contemporary and traditional 21st century folk music.
