Kate Maclurcan & The Loose Ends @ Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Folk Club
8pm, Friday 16th May 2014

By Barry Parks
Posted Thursday, April 10, 2014

Kate Maclurcan celebrated her 60th birthday by producing her first full length CD
‘A New Day’. Of the 17 songs, Kate wrote three: a jaunty song about her Dad, her
robust Australian version of ‘This Land is Your Land’ and the title track, 'A New Day', a touching song about finding the courage to pick up the pieces and move on when life shatters. Plus songs by Buffy St Marie, Guy Clarke, Neil Diamond, Kristina Olsen, John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Richard Thompson, Chris While, Eric Bogle & Pat Drummond

Kate plays acoustic guitar and has a warm, wonderfully nuanced voice . . . the songs convey much feeling and humanity. She is best known for running very popular community choirs in Narrabeen, Balmain & North Sydney. Since she recently spent time with Kris Kristofferson, her current choirs are 'The Songs of Kris Kristofferson.'

On Friday 16th she will be on stage with: Rob Bullen (guitar & bass), Wayne Richmond (accordion & piano), Kazu Milne (violin), Samantha O’Brien (flute & sax), Noni Dickson (harp), & Gial Leslie (glockenspiel)

What others have said about Hornsby:

Just wanted to thank you both and congratulate you on a great night last night! My wife came along for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it too. You are doing a great job with the club - we appreciate it.
Thanks for a lovely evening on Friday, and thanks for the photo. It was fun doing that last tune, completely unrehearsed! The banner & lights & candles etc (+ audience of course) have made for a really welcoming atmosphere. Good on you!

Kate recently went on a cruise with Kris Kristofferson. Not surprisingly, her latest community choir features Kris's songs!
