Focus on Folk - Sat 11th June

Posted Tuesday, June 7, 2005

Folk Federation's weekly radio program
2MBS-FM - 102.5 FM - Saturdays at 7pm

This Saturday’s June 11th program features music and musicians in Australia, and especially locally, whose music connects us to our Irish heritage. While there were many Celtic influences on early Australian culture and music the Irish has by far been the most dominant and has continued its influence up to the present day. Hear music from Tulca mόr, Areesh, Ross Smithard & Amy Jansen, Trouble in the Kitchen, Gael mόr and a host of others.

Declan Affley Remembered

The program also features music from the posthumous Declan Affley LP. Declan gave so much to the early “folk” & Irish music scene in Australia and the material he sang and played, whether traditional or contemporary made a real connection with that Irish heritage.

Declan will also be remembered with a special concert organised by the Folk Federation of NSW to be held at The Harp Hotel, Sunday 12 June from 4pm.
