The Shack - September 2006
7.30pm, Saturday 2nd September 2006

By Kathleen Swadling
Posted Tuesday, August 8, 2006

The Tramshed
1395a Pittwater Road
Narrabeen

(In between the Ambulance Station and Car Park of Narrabeen Shopping Centre)

Guest artists this month include:

  • Mic Conway's National Junk Band - An amazing live stage experience that must be seen and heard to be believed. Wielding National guitars, ukuleles, a sousaphone, a phono-fiddle, actual garbage cans and metal sinks, these rhythm magicians make venues rock. Not to be missed.
  • Green Mohair Suits - Inspired by the quiet desperation type songs of Hank Williams, this 3-piece band describes themselves as “mournful country blue grass”. The strong vocals and multiple part harmonies are cleverly complimented with backing guitars, banjo and mandolin.
  • The Swadlings - Drawing on folk and country roots, these guys are a vibrant 3 piece band performing all original music. The thoughtful lyrics weave stories that are backed by 3-part harmonies, acoustic guitars, mandolin and bass.
Coffee and tea is available but BYO refreshments and nibblies.

The Shack is held on the first Saturday of every month. There's a cover charge of $15 (or $10 for members, students and pensioners) to cover costs. The Shack is a non profit organisation – all proceeds go toward the promotion and presentation of original, contemporary and traditional 21st century folk music.
