Guest artists this month include:

  • Whistling Goose - Jug music – hot numbers, great tunes! Whistling Goose are back for a one time performance at The Shack. This amazingly wacky band hatched last century in the late 70's, bringing together a range of experience and talent. For the next decade they continued to play their flavour of Jug-band, good time music and the occasional blues. Some goslings were lost to predators and good taste which led to the demise of the flock. However the folk at the Shack have convinced them that now the Shack was back they should reunite and let the Goose loose for one last time. The Whistling Goose "twenty year or there abouts reunion performance" is on. In their final year they had teamed up with folk singer Sonia Bennett who joined them on stage as she will at this performance to add her remarkable voice to the ensembles musicianship and vocal harmonies. You won't be able to sit still.
  • Sonia Bennett - Sonia Bennett is a singer, songwriter, artist, and bush regenerator. She points out that it is easier and less costly to look after healthy, protected bush-land that to fix it after it has been damaged or destroyed. She has a glorious voice, rich and powerful, with a wonderful falsetto that gives her an enormous range. She is also a fine songwriter composing tunes to other people's words as well as her own.
  • Michael Azzopardi - Anyone who has sat through one of Michael's performances will tell you it's hard to slot his music into any one genre. There are traces of many differing styles; rock, folk, blues, jazz – all of the usual references but overriding these is a uniqueness – a sense that you've not quite heard anything like this before. An esoteric genius with a penchant for intricate acoustic masterpieces with an intensity and depth of his compositions that reach into the listener and take a firm hold on the soul. The poetic, philosophical lyrics are accessible and firmly rooted in everyday reality. A remarkably multi–layered artistic force.
Coffee and tea is available but BYO refreshments and nibblies.

The Shack is held on the first Saturday of every month. There's a cover charge of $15 (or $10 for members, students and pensioners) to cover costs. The Shack is a non profit organisation – all proceeds go toward the promotion and presentation of original, contemporary and traditional 21st century folk music.
