Framed by beautiful melodies, pulsing rhythm and passion that drips from both their live performances and recordings, THE HOTTENTOTS are one of the most exciting and noticeably different acts to come out of the Australian folk scene in recent years.
a voice that would aggravate angels
Formed by gifted songwriter, singer and guitarist Carl Cleves, and Parissa Bouas, whom Philip Adams exclaimed, 'has a voice that would aggravate angels with its beauty’, the Hottentots have carved out a reputation with a style that is indelibly their own. Their unique music comes from their emotional honesty, talent and the kaleidoscopic cultural and folk influences.
Most recently, Carl Cleves has been awarded the national prize for BEST LYRICS 2007 at the Australian Songwriter's Association Awards night on 30th August. His song, “The Rose of Kordofan”, which features on his new CD “All Alone” was chosen from amongst thousands of entries to be this year's winner. Songs from that CD will be featured in their performance.
Entry to this concert will be $15 / $12 and as this will be your only chance to see them this time around - BOOKING IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! To book, ring or email Jenny.
