• Phyl & Trudy Edgeley - "Who'd have thought that a tributary of the mighty Mississippi managed to wind its way through Lincolnshire, or to be precise, tiny Rutland, and deposited such a rich vein of Delta-soaked blues in the heart of one of its gypsy musician sons. Well, Phil Edgeley is the proof that the blues knows no colour, only the passion to express itself with honesty and integrity - and a cheeky grin!" - Michael Smith, Drum Media. Edgeley's influences range from Delta Blues masters Robert Johnson, Fred McDowell and Skip James, to contemporary artists such as Chris Whitley, Jeff Lang and Chris Smither as well as Richard Thompson, John Renbourn, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. His lyrics deal with the multi-facets of life, often pulling no punches and delivered in a direct fashion but still somehow emotive and thought provoking rather than hard. Phil spent several years touring as a solo artist and has released 3 albums to date, “This Life” (2005) “Then and Now” (2007) and “In the Blood” (2011). Harmonica icon Jim Conway describes Phil as a.."Masterful guitarist and songwriter who performs with great heart and passion. Now add Trudy Edgeley, an Australian Singer Songwriter, hailing from a rich musical background founded in both her family's strong Gospel lifestyle and her rich heritage, which is a melting pot of cultures including Solomon Islands, Jamaican, Irish and Indigenous. Trudy is also influenced by artists ranging from Bessie Smith and Carole King to Neil Young and Bob Dylan to name a few. Trudy creates a blend of vocals and a sound that reflects not only her influences and passion for her music, but also her desire to tell the stories of her rich ancestery. Falling somewhere in the alt-folk-pop musical landscape, they boast layered sibling harmonies, irresistible melodies and fascinating arrangements. • David Hyams - We are delighted to have David back to Fairlight folk after playing here with his Miles to go trio previously. David is based in Fremantle WA and is known nationally for his work as a composer, producer and instrumentalist. Playing guitar, mandolin, dobro, bouzouki and harmonica, he’s traversed many musical styles including the celtic inspired mix of his “Miles To Go” band albums. Over the last 15 years, the band has become a favourite at Australian festivals, opened for Bob Geldof and Marianne Faithfull among others, and been 8 times nominated for a WAM (WA Music industry Association) award. David is also a seasoned songwriter and has collaborated as co-writer/arranger/producer with songwriters such as Bill Chambers, Lucky Oceans and Frank Jones (co-writer of rapper 360's hit “Boys Like You”). In 2009 he was signed to Shock Music Publishing Australia, one of Australia's largest independent Music Publishers. He has written extensively for film and TV, and has been nominated for the WAM Song of the year awards 3 times, as well as numerous other awards. In recent years. Watch this YouTube clip.
• Taj Ralph - Armed only with his acoustic guitar, Taj Ralph has been a common sight busking on the streets of Manly,the northern beaches of Sydney and the inner west of Sydney for many years now. An experienced performer at 16 yrs of age Taj is now playing festivals , bigger venues and looks to have a big future. Taking influence from Gary Clarke Jnr, Chet Faker and Sticky Fingers, Taj has continued to evolve his sound by busking up and down the east coast. Watch this YouTube clip.

Fairlight folk acoustic lounge is a not for profit venue run by musicians for musicians. Run quarterly for the past 6 years, FFAL has seen performances from many fine interstate and international performers and has become a greatly anticipated event. With a candlelit ambience and red leather lounges, cafe style seating and lovely acoustics this gallery/church in Fairlight is a BYOG affair. Tea,coffee and soft drinks available.
