The Harp will host some of Australia’s finest folk-roots musicians on Sunday 25 November for the Sydney launch of the long-awaited debut CD Desire Lines from Blue Mountains singer/songwriter Tony Eardley.Tony has been building a strong reputation around the folk festivals and clubs in recent years for poetic songwriting that cuts to the heart of everyday concerns – love, loss, social injustice and environmental destruction – with a refreshing emotional honesty. Desire Lines features not only his own warm vocals, melodic guitar and bouzouki, but also a swag of other topnotch folk and roots musicians.

The CD is already gathering critical acclaim and widespread airplay, with one reviewer writing “I was spellbound ... because of the very poetry in the combination of the words and the music” and another describing it as “a stormer of an album … CD of the year”.

Tony comes originally from the UK, where he played in folk clubs in the early 1970s but gave up performing for many years until migrating to Australia brought him back in contact with the folk scene and inspired him to pick up his guitar again. The CD is the fruit of these recent years of writing and performing, during which he has attracted frequent comparisons to introspective artists like Nick Drake.

The launch provides a rare opportunity to hear Tony's songs live with the rich musical accompaniment that makes the album shine.
