The Lurkers CD launch and farewell party
7pm, Friday 23rd October 2009

Posted Wednesday, September 16, 2009

We might get arrested in Copenhagen and never return so come and celebrate with us before we go! The Lurkers will launch their debut album 'Shoot to the Moon' at:

Marrickville's Red Rattler
6 Faversham Street
Marrickville

Tickets: $10.

The CD launch is just days before they leave to country to attend the UN climate change negotiations in Copenhagen and cause some trouble... bluegrass style.

There will be a raffle with some high quality raffle prizes such as:

  • a song with your name in it sung on the steps of the Copenhagen climate conference and released on our video blog
  • a blow up penguin used in the climate protests and signed by a world leader (nb. we make no guarantees of a 'high profile' leader such as President Obama)
Some reviews of the album:

"This is Dance at the Revolution stuff with the musical styles ranging from blues to bluegrass, mountain music to traditional folk and the energy is infectious."
Margaret Walters, Cornstalk Magazine August 2009

"Humour is indeed a great weapon in any fight, and this 'anithumourless activism' deserves to be heard, and danced to."
Chris Peken. City Hub August 2009

"Even the biggest cigar-chomping capitalist would appreciate that the group plays and sings with fervour that few bands can muster."
David Abkiewicz, Tresspass Magazine December 2008
