A Fundraiser for Oxfam

On June 14, 2014 come along for a great night of world music with Solidarity Choir and Chaika.

Solidarity Choir has been singing songs of freedom justice and struggle from around the world since it was formed in 1987. Some of our songs are even in English! Come and join us to hear songs in harmony from places like East Timor, China, Korea, South Africa and of course Australia.

Chaika- Based in Sydney, Chaika take their name from the Bulgarian word for ‘seagull’. They create a beguiling and original sound-world, blending 4 female voices with Clarinet, Violin, Piano, Accordion, Double-Bass, Guitar and Percussion.

Chaika are a group whose strength is the elusive nature of their style. At times flashes of Balkan, Jazz, Jewish, Celtic and Italian music emerge; these flashes are interspersed with fluid original compositions to weave a sensuous and unique sound.

Like their namesake, Chaika gently wander through foreign lands, through storms and through stories, emerging rich with experience and an enchanting tale to tell.

Together, we'll present a fabulous night of music and harmony as well as raising funds for Oxfam Australia.
