Unnatural Light finally shines...

The much anticipated new album “Unnatural Light” from Chris Gillespie is finally ready for release. "This one's been a long time coming and proved to be a very, very long journey to getting it right" says Gillespie. Chris has been a staple on the Australian music festival scene since 2006 with two previous EP's 'The Road To Tamworth' and 'Free To Roam'. He is renowned by his audience and peers for his songwriting craft especially his lyrics. He has songs about the New England Highway, unexplained lights at night, getting lost in the mountains, songs about old houses and the thoughts that still live there, about the cockatoos that own the M2, about Ed the cricket playing dog who takes LBW wickets with left hand unorthodox spin, about satin bowerbirds, renewable energy, dawn choruses, declarations and roaming free. 'Gillespie is definitely one of those timeless songsmiths...' (Joe Gould, The Crooked Fiddle Band). The songs are always beautiful, bursting with observational yearning. He has been dubbed 'Sydney's answer to Bob Dylan...' (Dave Regos, FBi Radio). The first single from the album and title track 'Unnatural Light’ spent weeks at number one on the Triple J National Unearthed Roots charts, and the music video (available on youtube) was filmed in the Blue Mountains.

Chris Gillespie will be launching the new album ‘Unnatural Light’ on Saturday 21st January at Cafe Churchspace, 37 St. Johns Rd, Glebe (special guests ‘Polyminor’).

Doors open 7pm. Entry $10/$8 concession.

Chris will also be touring the Blue Mountains in February/March including:
- Blackheath Folk Thursday 2nd February from 8.30pm
- Katoomba RSL Saturday 4th February (with Lime & Steel) from 8.30pm.
- Blue Mountains Folk Sunday February 19th at Blue Mountain Hotel, Lawson from 3.30pm (with special guest Snez).
