Who are we?

The Folk Federation of New South Wales is an umbrella organisation for the folk arts in NSW whose membership is representative of a diverse community of individuals, performers and affiliate groups including folk clubs and festivals who share the common goals of fostering knowledge and appreciation of, and promoting interest and participation in the folk arts at all levels.

Vision

To serve as a co-ordinating body for folk activities in NSW and to provide leadership and support for our membership and the wider folk community in the pursuit and delivery of any folk based performance, function or project and, to assist in the preservation, development and promotion of the folk arts and their practitioners in NSW.

Objectives

The aims of the Folk Federation of NSW are to:

  1. Provide public information about folk activity in NSW through its magazine, the Cornstalk Gazette, and the JAM web site.
  2. Encourage & Support
    a) folk artists;
    b) organisations;
    c) festivals;
    d) folk related projects.
  3. Represent its members & affiliates to arts agencies, government & the media.
  4. Establish partnerships & networks to benefit the development of the folk arts.
  5. Provide services to its members and affiliates.
  6. Encourage participation in folk activity by the community, especially young people.
  7. Archive and document folk collections & resources.
  8. Liaise with folk collection agencies & inform public accessibility.
